Chit Chat

Chit Chat

What's next: Highly anticipating PRTYNGG!'s late July release of a four song Chit Chat 7" - which will be followed by a split LP with BAD INDIANS. PRTYNGG! was kind enough to share some rough mixes of the upcoming tracks, and this will be a must-have!

What they said:
"Pop songs are pummeled out by this Ypsi/Arbor trio; their charm lying somewhere between those clattered rhythms, the dreamy/dissonance of that reverb-dashed guitar (and, yes, inevitably we have to use the slogany label of “surf…” at least sporadically, here ) or in the wonderful wail of those fiery lead vocals.

On their debut (available on cassette), they’re already showing a fine sense of balancing a raw, snarling shred (call it punk, call it shambling lo-fi, call it what you will) with these warmer elements, guitar tones as vibrant as a blood-orange-setting sun dazzlingly setting the sky ablaze and the simple hooks and strutting rhythms of seminal early 60s pop/rock that redolently facilitates a song like “Cruising,” musically and nostalgically." - Jeff Milo, Metro Times Blogs

Burnt Ones

BURNT ONES
Think Jesus & The Mary Chain, The Beach Boys, & T-Rex thrown together in a smoke filled
bar & sprinkled in glam. Their debut full length (Black Teeth & Golden Tongues) and 7"
were among my favorite purchases of 2010, so the bands return to wax with their latest 7"
was more than welcome. 300 pressed to gold vinyl, get one via Burger Records! Preview the B-side "LUV" above or the anthemic "Gonna Listen to T. Rex (All Night Long)" from the LP, below.

Habibi

[Can't get this out of my head] If you haven't already been introduced, welcome to one of Brooklyn's finest, Habibi. Brought together by Rahill Jamalifard and Lenny Lynch, and featuring Erin Campbell (from Girls at Dawn!) on bass and Karen Isabel on drums. A 7" featuring the above track has been released on Born Bad Records, and a full-length LP is in the works. SWEET!

Big Surr

Photo: Lance Conzett

Big Surr

Beautifully smashed up & melodic female fronted punk. It's the sugar on your bowl of shredded wheat. It's the gravel in your soup. It still warms the belly, but it leaves its mark. Their energy can be intense ("Gone" & "Alright"), or brought to a simmer ("Co Sine Tan Gent" & "You Got Somethin'"), but whatever they're doing at any given moment, it will suck you in. ...Hooks, energy, and sticky & sweet balls of distortion!!...I love this!!!---> Visit the band's blogspot page below and download their highly recommended debut EP Miss You Most & keep an eye out for their upcoming 7" on Infinity Cat.

Stunts

Stunts - By The Way

Stunts - If A Girl Can Tell

FREE download of Stunts debut EP on Bandcamp!!

The Stunts, as demonstrated on opening track "By The Way", understand the potential heartbreak if it all goes wrong, but have already felt that clear-eyed "hell-yes!" feeling you get when you realize you're going to do it anyhow -- and the chance of heartbreak be damned. The band promises to “make your bub-bubs bounce”, and who could pass that up? Nobody. Sadly though, this is all a tease, as the band has called it quits (moving on to other projects). Still think you should know about them.

What they said:Stunts play with the sound of The Crystals and 60’s power-pop. Most importantly, they sound like they’ve had a good time recording, filling their songs with dirty, speedy chatter of noise. If you can imagine The Pains of being Pure at Heart raised on My Bloody Valentine instead of bands from C86, you’re not far wrong.” - Neu Magazine
